The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon (Book Review)

The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King

    My review

      rating: 3 of 5 stars
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is the first Stephen King book I've ever read (where have I been?. TGWLTG was a very engaging and intense read through the most terrifying day in 9 year old Trisha Mcfarland's life. While I enjoyed the novel, I was not very terrified at all. The cover and the expected extremely postive reviews in the first few pages really made it seem like a scare-fest.

The truth is, there was really only one part in the book that made me wince while eating my pancakes. However, the narrator did a great job of describing Trisha's hardships throughout the novel with perfect description, and although she was alone she frequently had other companions that kept dialogue interesting.

Harder to describe still, is the feeling the novel left upon me. I had a great time reading it and will read more Stephen King in the future; nonetheless, there was just an essential ingredient missing that would have made this the perfect read.

People that say "Music ain't what it used to be"

Grow up. Music is always going to change, and you would realize it's actually improving if you removed your head from 90's music's ass. Ok fine 2Pac's dead, and no other rapper comes close. Really?  Open your eyes.

You listen to his music, watch his interviews, and collect his pictures. You refuse to acknowledge any new music styles.  Obsessed much?

Fine, I admit it; 2Pac is my favorite rapper. But there are other great rappers out there. Hussein Fatal is not a legend, to be a legend people actually have to know who you are. There are also people who say the alternative rock of the 90's is not to be beaten. I do dig it a lot, but there are plenty of great bands in this day and age.

Have you encountered people like this? Or are you this person? Share your story with me, I'd love to hear it.

Who am I?

  • Call me Pete. I'm very open-minded which makes me diverse in the things I do. When I'm not working out, I'm reading a novel or at work. And I'm always listening to music.
